Exclusive: Shruti Haasan opts out of Adivi Sesh’s Dacoit, Chennai Story

Actor Shruti Haasan is in the news after reports about her latest films Chennai Story and Dacoit: A Love Story emerged. India Today has exclusively learnt that the actor has opted out of the two films. She is presently shooting for director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie, starring Superstar Rajinikanth.
Recently, it was reported that Shruti Haasan had exited Adivi Sesh’s Dacoit due to creative differences. A source close to Shruti told IndiaToday.in, “I don’t want to get into the details. But, it is true that she is not doing Adivi Sesh’s Dacoit: A Love Story.”
When asked if Shruti is still a part of Chennai Story, the source replied, “No, she’s not doing that either. Currently, her docus is on Coolie.”
On December 20, 2023, it was announced that Adivi Sesh and Shruti Haasan’s film has been titled Dacoit: A Love Story. An announcement teaser was also unveiled on the same day.

Similarly, Shruti Haasan was supposed to play a detective in Chennai Story, an Indo-UK co-production. The film is written and directed by BAFTA winner Philip John and co-written by Harasgama. Before Shruti, Samantha Ruth Prabhu was roped in to play the lead role in the film. However, the offer then landed on Shruti’s lap. Now, Shruti has also exited the film.
Shruti Haasan’s Coolie will hit theatres in 2025. Her upcoming line-up of projects is yet to be announced.
